Her career reflects a strong commitment to serving diverse populations through advocacy, collaborative partnerships, and student-centered practices that promote stability, well-being, and long-term success.

Shakyria began her professional journey in higher education as a Resident Assistant, where she cultivated safe, inclusive residential communities while supporting student development and connecting residents with campus resources. This experience established a foundation for her continued work in fostering environments where individuals feel supported, valued, and empowered to succeed.

She subsequently served as a Foster Care Case Manager, partnering with children, families, and community agencies to coordinate comprehensive support services, monitor case progress, and advocate for positive outcomes within the child welfare system. Most recently, she served as a Rapid Rehousing Case Manager, assisting individuals and families impacted by domestic violence and human trafficking in securing stable housing, accessing critical community resources, and developing sustainable plans for long-term independence.
